Feeling a bit down today. Yesterday I ate poorly and have to watch out for some bad habits trying to sneak back into my life. I didn't have too many calories, but had to make an effort to overeat and I did. We had subs (which are good food) and I was asked if I only wanted a 6", like I now usually get. I said yes and then quickly changed my mind and said "no, get me a 12". Ok, not great but not too bad. I ate it and then my wife said she didn't want the last half of her 12" so I quickly ate that as well. I was more than full after my sub, so why did I eat the extra?? Not going to beat myself up, but need to watch out. At least I was thinking of it and not just mindlessly eating it, so I guess that's progress.

I don't know when I have ever done 55 squats before and I tell ya, it sure makes the legs turn to rubber. A couple of months ago I could barely do 25-30 and today I decided to push for more. I made the 50 not too bad, but by 55 my legs were tired. I stood up and its a good thing I was right by my chair because my legs were like jello. They didn't hurt but were unsupportive. Years ago, I belonged to a gym that was in a basement with about 35 steps. The trainers kept warning people that were starting out to watch out for the squats because if you pushed too hard, you were going to be spending the night (there was no elevator). I now know what they were talking about. It feels good to be able to push myself a little harder on the muscles. It has been a long time since I would have been so out of breath that I couldn't do enough to work them out. Now I can get that healthy burn that feels so good. Onward and upward.

Decided to weigh myself because I knew I was getting close and I made it. I hit the 75 lbs gone mark. The next goal is to hit the 100 so am going to try stepping up the exercise. My knees are starting to relax from not having to carry that extra weight, so hopefully I can start some walking. It's getting easier to keep motivated.

Lost 3 pounds this week so am quite happy about that. It seems so funny that last week I gained a pound and was not concerned and this week I lose three and wish it was more. We play stupid mind games on ourselves and it is frustrating. I read other peoples journals and can honestly tell them it is going great, BUT when I am in the same situation, it feels like the end of the world. My advice (to myself and others) is to just stick with it, results are happening. Some weeks the scale doesn't look as good, but clothes fit better. Other times, the inches stay the same, but the weight is down. It took years to get this heavy and it will take some time to get healthy. For myself, this is a lifestyle change and not a diet (although it seems like a race of some kind). I am not depriving myself of good food (I had bacon for breakfast), starving myself or missing out on life. I am learning about food, making smart choices and am now able to do more.
