Busted my self-imposed RDI again yesterday, got to get back on track. Weekends/evenings are tough because there's no way around eating what the family eats...got to have a compromise between my diet goals and their willingness to compromise and choose the "lesser evils" without being subjected to my restrictions. It's going to be a little tougher this week, because the hubby went grocery shopping. I should have had a list. He bought things that (to the untrained eye) appear to be smart diet selections. They are for the average person watching their weight, but w/ my bodybuilding aspirations, they err a little heavier on the carbs/fat than I'd like and too light on the protein. I think I'm going to bust my RDI a good bit this week as I supplement the food he bought me with higher protein snacks/shakes.

Okay - so I've been reading up a storm, and finding the more I read, the more differing opinions there are when it comes to the "means to the end" in reaching my goal. I'm wanting to lose body fat, and keep muscle, so I've decided to take pieces and parts & tailor my own 'method' and see how that works out. Which means, diaries are essential! I took progress pics yesterday. I've set my RDI to 1600 kCals per day. I'm consciously trying to keep most of that protein / carb with as little fat/sugar as possible. As I've been logging in my foods, I'm finding carbs are 'hidden' in virtually everything...especially fruit. So I'll make a conscious effort to avoid eating too much bread/pasta & be mindful of serving sizes/portions. With the right spacing of time & food combos, I'm really finding myself satisfied in terms of hunger, so it seems to be working well so far...proof will be in the scale and look in the coming weeks!
