Read this on another site. Wish I had known to eat adequate protein when starting low carb. Do not fear the protein, it DOES NOT turn into sugar!
"Most people starting out on a low carbohydrate diet intend to (and subsequently do) lose weight. This weight loss occurs because you are eating much less energy than your body is burning –typically early on up to half of your daily energy needs are coming out of your love handles.
However one’s protein needs (expressed as grams per day) are about the same across all phases of carbohydrate restriction, whether it’s your first week in Induction or your second year in weight maintenance. This means that your dietary protein intake is proportionately higher at the start of the diet when weight loss is occurring than later on when weight loss has stopped.
Using our male example from Chapter 16, if you eat 150 grams of protein (600 Calories) in 1600 Calories per day, the diet looks to be 38% protein. Later on, when you eventually advance your energy intake to the point of achieving weight stability, say 2800 Calories per day, that same 150 grams of protein is now only 21% of your daily energy intake. That’s because in both situations most of your dietary energy needs are coming from fat. But in weight maintenance, all of this fat needs to come from your diet, so the protein content in your diet is proportionately less."

2nd week of PMSF. Lost 1 lb and 1" off waist. 2 more weeks til vacation. Gonna keep at it!

Started PSMF on Monday. I had meant to start on the first but life threw a curve ball so just stuck with my usual WOE. Have lost a couple of lbs and feel really good. Very noticeable in the belly region, which is where I carry most of my fat. Waist down 3"!
Tomorrow will be my "free meal", then back at it Monday!

Sometimes I wonder about my thinking process. In over 2 years eating LC I've never tried the sugar free candy. Been CRAVING sweets and I happen to see the Russel Stover SF bags on sale at the store. I bought 3 different kinds. I bring them home, put them in the candy dish. I say to my husband "I've heard horror stories about if you eat too many, you'll get diahrea, cramps, gas...I wonder how many is TOO many?"I proceed to eat 6. THAT IS TOO MANY! I spent the rest of the evening in and out of the bathroom. They sure were good going down, tho....
PS I'm not annoyed with anyone, I just loved the little face on the pup! AND I still LOVE coffee!
