Went to the gym this morning and got my weights circuit in! I increased my shoulder presses up to 10lb dumbbells. I started back at 5lbs in January, so I'm excited to be getting back where I was last year. I think in a week or so I'll be able to increase my bicep curls to 15lbs as well. Woo hoo for progress!
I'm also feeling much healthier and more calm compared to last week. I'm not sure what changed, I think I'm incorporating more healthy fats and eating more frequently as well.
My boyfriend has been doing so well, it's a great motivation when both of us are embracing the healthy lifestyle. Of course we joke about ordering pizza every night..haha.

Had a very nice, relaxing weekend! We had a terrential downpour of rain all day yesterday, so my boyfriend and I headed to the gym where I got in a good weights circuit in and then rushed through going to the grocery store. The remainder of the day we just lounged and watched movies, it was so nice!
So my boyfriend is on a "mission" to lose 10lbs quickly, which has made the weekend food decisions a bit easier. I made a healthy shepherds pie on Saturday, and there were no temptations to order take out or go out. It's funny though b/c he goes way extreme for a few weeks until he hits his goal then goes back to normal.
Today is a rest day, which I can tell my body needs.

Took spinning this morning, and there was a new instructor that I hadn't had. I kind of pre-judged and assumed she wouldn't be that tough....WRONG! It was by far the toughest class yet, I strongly disliked her during it and loved her afterwards. There were tons of circuits, it was non stop for a solid hour.
I got my hair done today too! Re-dyed back to a vibrant red, and I got some length chopped too. Now it's one layer kind of angled around my shoulders...really like it!

For some reason, I'm really struggling with balance. It's always been so hard for me to not sway from one extreme to the other. I feel like I've been so meticulous, couting every calorie, working out 6x week, that now I'm craving junk and just wanting to give up. I'm afraid of living in the middle b/c of my silly notion that moderation isn't good enough.
But when I was doing cardio this morning, I kept thinking that all I need to concentrate on is doing the "right thing". For me, that means enjoying some pizza on a Friday night, taking spinning classes & lifting weights, eating right but allowing the treats. I just want to live and not feel like I'm punishing myself, or trying to mold my body into something it's not. I'll never lose my hips, so I need to embrace them and be happy.
I'm going to concentrate on this and really try to slow down and enjoy the small things. I know that if I continue at my current rate, it will fizzle.
A billboard by the highway yesterday reminded me of how simple this all can be. It was directed for kids, and simply said "Eat Right, Be Active, Have Fun." So true!
