One of the most amazing things about this site that I have noticed is the constant attacks on the Atkins diet. What in the world is so wrong with a diet that advises you to give up white flour and sugar? You are allowed unlimited meat but unless you are a sumo wrestler,it is hard to consume a lot of meat. The problem is basically the medical profession doesn't want to re-examine the findings. It basically puts the food pyramid on its head. Don't forget people that the study of the effects of food on the body AS A SCIENCE is not even 100 years old!! They are at this time re-examining whether cholesterol is truly "bad", some researchers think it may be possible that it is the bodies reaction to the effects of heart disease, rather than the cause of it. It is very profitable industry, the weight loss industry. You do yourself a disservice by accepting mainstream ideology. Question your info and research. And no it is not muscle mass that is lost. Years of research at the Atkins institute have substantiated that fat is lost. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

I find that those who attack the diet have never read the book and seem to think that all you can eat is cheese, meat, and eggs. I also think that people who do the diet incorrectly add to this misconception. You know how some folks think that if they drop their carbs even lower than 20 they will lose weight faster. Anyway, I tend to try and just ingnore those who choose to wage attacks from a place of ignorance. Just consider the source. If Atkins works for you there is no need for validation on this site or anywhere else. Do what works and be slim, healthy, and happy!!

This is the only diet I have ever lost weight on and that proves itself to me. Nothing is wrong with cutting out white sugar and flour.

There is a lot of misinformation floating about. Unfortunately people always believe what they hear negatively about something and don't bother to research it for themselves. I was actually quite unsure about Atkins until I re-read the book and understood it better the second time. Now I believe it is the only way for me to be healthy. It is important to stick to the facts and try not to get emotionally involved. Stick to it, lose the weight, get the blood tests done and prove to the world how great it is. The results will speak for themselves. At least we have a lot of Atkins buddies that know this works and understand the diet. We will just stick together and show the world how healthy this diet can be. :)
