Shiratake is awesome! Make it for low carb no sugar sukiyaki or Nabe low carb! Have you tried Konyaku? Tasty zero calories I might say even Negative calories!! Soy sauce or even miso add in tofu for protein! It's good stuff!

Maybe Japanese market has Konyaku jelly (zero calories but flavor like peach, grape, Apple... But maybe fake sugars?) do you have Japanese market where you live?

I don't know about that stuff....i kinda like to eat real food. I never had a diet to be successful eating manufactured food....or imitation this and imitation that....it doesn't work for me. if that is your cup of tea good luck.

I stir fry them in the juices and seasonings after browning the meat. I then add the veggie and continue to cook them. Then add the meat back in. The texture changes to the better. I was turned off by the texture, too. Not any more. Just cook them with what ever seasoning.. There are lots of recipes online.

I think shiratake is natural made from Japanese yam or Konyaku, it's natural both my great grandmothers (lived in Japan) ate it always and lived to 96 and 94 years old. They were very active until they passed away in the 1990's.

This is why I love FS. There are things in this world I never knew existed. You all have opened my eyes to so many new possibilities. Heck of a lot better than fast food every single day.

I'm on a lchf program. Several weeks ago I took "Miracle Noodles" and added 3 cheeses (Cheddar, cream cheese, parmesan) with butter to make a delicious "mac and cheese" with probably 1 gm carbs.

You should boil them in lemon soy sauce or white fish dashi broth with tofu (protein), Napa cabbage, little bit of onion, green onion, daikon radish, and shiitake (if carbs permit it) maybe add some shrimp and that's a traditional Japanese dish called Onabe. Sooooo gooood!!!

As long as you rinse these properly they make a pretty bloody marvellous substitute ... I haven't quite convinced my hubby to try 'em, but I have :D
