Totally sabotaged myself the other day. Didn't eat enough protein to keep blood sugar stable in morning then did my exorciseing and my blood sugar dropped out on me late afternoon. Almost passed out and felt like crap rest of day. spent evening trying to get it stable again and blew calories for day.
Got to remember being a bit hyperglycemic to watch that my carb/sugar intake is balanced with protein/fiber so don't crash. It's hard to get protein/fiber in without high calories. plus get tired of chicken. So splurged on some whey protein powder. Hopeing will help.
If any one has suggestions, I'll take 'em. I hate how I feel when sugar drops out.

I like Trader Joe's turkey jerkey. Light, lean, yummy. Fat free cottage cheese (ever try salsa in cottage cheese?) .

Already on it. Got 3lbs of jerky to hold me over. As far as cottage cheese, I can't stand it. the only cheese I don't like. Do like salsa alot though so I'll get a small tub of cheese and try it. Don't feel right say don't like something I haven't actually tried.

i think the whey will actually spike your insulin! i was just reading about that the other day. do you use a fiber? (unsweetened) i think the trick is to avoid the crash and fats like avocados and a variety of nuts, even eggs really help! fats help you feel full longer and i find they keep my bs low! I also use cheese to get through the day but I'm trying to cut down . . . . . professional advice I've gotten was to have 4 oz of juice once you get hypoglycemic because the juice goes straight to your bloodstream and you will normalize fast! it's a horrible feeling! i know when I get to that point I might eat 1000 calories and still not get back to normal! i could eat the whole house at that point while i'm dizzy and wobbly knees and sweating . . . . i also space out my meals to try to avoid it and avoid things which will cause insulin spikes altogether . . . .! i also carry around an emergency food pack with me! <hugs>

Thanks, Tuligirl, for the advice. How you describe it is exactly how I feel when that happens. Your right about the whey. Already did it to me, although not as bad as the other day. Your right about the juice, I just didn't have any on hand that day. I'm now trying to get larger meal w/ fats in morning BEFORE working out. I'm spacing lunch out into 2-3 snacks and have light dinner. Plus beans are back in my diet. Not just for fiber but for cost too. Been looking in stores for whole barley as well to increase fiber. Bought 8 avocados and 2 large bags of nuts today as well. I'm trying to cut back on cheese too. Just too many calories for the mass.
