213 lbs and TOM is on me! I feel pretty good about not gaining more than a pound .. actually, surprised. I know it is because of the meat and eggs . Last night I was supposed to do meatballs but I had some pot-roast instead. I had some more for breakfast this morning.

So today is my last meat and eggs day for now ... I won't rule it out as a way of breaking a stall in the future - and something to keep in mind to deal with maintenance issues once I get there ... and yes, I will get there!!! This meat and eggs experiment has been such a learning process for me. I know now that in order to lose weight on this WOE, I have to keep those calories low and proteins higher than expected. I had hoped that LCHF was going to be the weight-loss panacea for me but it was not as simple as that. I also discovered that veggies, no matter how small, need to be part of my diet. Some of it is definitely emotional and I am still trying to figure that out.

I have discovered that I have to keep my calories low. To loose .. it's about 1200 cals per day - even though I get a much higher allowance from weight loss calorie calculators, it does not work for me. I still hold hope it will change as I get more active.

This journey has it's bumps and bruises for sure. What is interesting is that even though we all have the same goal of losing weight, the unique map for that journey is being developed as we take the steps every day - some backward, some forward, some tentative, some sure, some courageously bodacious. When I started, I initially thought this was about losing weight and it seemed simple enough. But as the weeks press on ... I am finding it's about self-discovery (who knew?) - it's the surprise gift to self that keeps on giving!

Good news all: I got the results of my mammogram and the follow-ups - the lump is benign. However, I will have to watch it and do a 6 month follow-up test. That's a relief!!! So good to move that out of my psyche.

Today's food:

3 ounces pot-roast, 3 boiled eggs, peppermint tea
6 meatballs, 2 scrambled eggs, peppermint tea
3 scrambled eggs, 6 meatballs (if I feel like it), peppermint tea

Have a wonderful day all!

oh great news about the mammogram! and hope we all find our way! our starting weights are about the same . . . . each body is different but definitely keep the veggies; they have a negative affect on weight, they actually use more energy to process than the calories they have . . . . . they really help you lose! good luck!

Awesome news on the lump. So happy for you. On the 1200 calories a day, this is the absolute least you should be eating, but at the same time .... I get the same feeling that unless I am that low in calories, I don't lose. I started out eating 1336. LOL! This is the magic number I figure out on either the Carsen Chow calculator or the IIFYM (or whatever those initials are) calculator. So, I tried keeping my nets carbs at 30g a day and the protein at around 9- -100g. I believe you have to get in those leafy greens if nothing else. I love my meat. LMAO! I copied down the fat bomb recipe AGAIN. I don't have a flexible mold yet. I wonder if a regular cup cake liner would work?

Thanks tulip.... I definitely need the veggies so I am keeping them :) Mom, I am wondering how feasible it will be to stick ti 1200 ....I suspect that will be a discovery process for me. About the liners ....yes, they definitely will work for the fat bombs.

the 1200 calories sounds really low but it is feasible; i shoot for 1250 but without the veggies which i don't count; carbs at 30???? that seems totally impossible; i also follow coach calorie on FB and there's a website with great pointers; pretty helpful!

I follow the Protein Power book and Dr. Michael Eades and his wife have been around a while and highly respected. They suggest 30g net carbs a day.

ok this is a dumb question but what are net carbs? how do you accomplish 30 grams of carbs? this is the hardest area for me. carbs are my enemy

Carbs grams minus fiber grams = net carbs. Fiber isn't digested so it can be subtracted from the carb total. I would suggest reading the Protein Power book or the Atkins Book just for some basic background. Carbs in vegetables are the good carbs. Carbs that are in processed and prepacked foods like chips, mac and cheese, pasta, rice, etc are not good carbs.

Wow, what a post! First of all I wanna say congrats on the mammo! I can feel your relief!!! And about this egg/meatball diet I see that you are on. What is this all about? Don't worry, I can go back in your journal and see what I can pick up, but it does sound interesting!

Thank you all so much for our support ... I am so relieved about the lump!!! Mom: As soon as I start hitting over 25 carbs it seems my weightloss stalls. For losing weight I am finding I have to keep the carbs low for now - maybe I have serious carb sensitivity. I am not sure it that is something that can or will change with time? I agree with your response to Tulip - reading is exactly what is helping me. I read and I experiment. I researched the Steak and Eggs diet before I embarked on it but it's definitely not for everyone. Some people are able to make it work for a while (I am not one of them). I was happy with the results I got for the one week. One of my friends who decided to try this extreme WOE in solidarity with me lost 5 lbs in 7 days (but she had a better attitude that I did - she was more into it... and no complaints about too much meat).
