So I lost a lot of weight pretty fast doing keto but I quit keto and am barely maintaining my weight, I need ideas for a long term sustainable diet if anyone can help!

I have had to find a balance of foods that work with in my way of eating that meet my nutritional goals. I use portion control and greatly reduced carbs. I do have diabetes - so I have to be mindful of arbs. I am not on Keto - I do avoid carbs. I found foods that I like that work or I found alternates that work that I like. the bottom line is that this isn't a diet, a sentence, a chore - it is just eating - putting fuel in the machine. I wish you all the best on your adventure.

I follow intermittent fasting & macro counting! There have been a lot of studies that have shown pushing your first meal 4-6 hours after you wake up not only helps muscle growth REGARDLESS of strength training, but it is a wonderful strategy to stay satisfied on a lower calorie intake. You don’t have to be 100% every day, but it’s the general guidelines that I’ve found most helpful! Good luck

I know what best works for me and I know you do what best works for you. Blanket statements are really not truth - they are your opinion and other people have differing opinions.

I maintained my weight for the past 6 month by stop eating breakfast and lunch during the week.

I do portion comtrol and moderation in all things. I do fun stuff type exercise and swim every day. I have no forbidden foods. I just know when to Stop. I never eat to the point I am stuffed. Works well for me.

Mayo Clinic has helped me with portion control and a healthy balance of foods without any forbidden foods.... if you are just looking to maintain or slow a steady losing

weight watchers method I think was the best diet I went on.. I been on so many diets and weight watchers works great for me because I learn to portion control and eat normal everyday healthy food and once in awhile have something bad. No processed foods at all. Keep moving and get the heart racing to burn a sweat at least 4 times a week and Yoga to relax. You have to find your own happy /healthy relationship with food to stick with for the rest of your life. It may take awhile but you will get it

I use the "push away" diet. I just push away from the table earlier than I use to plus I try to get an hour of exercise on a regular basis. I lost 65lbs. and I'm at my goal. Over the years I've learned the only way to maintain your weight is too watch it on a daily basis - stick with the program regardless of what you chose.

I just had a luscious dessert: 2 oz. crushed fresh blueberries with a sprinkle of stevia, 2T real whipped cream, and 1/2 oz. of whole raw almonds. OMG! Positively decadent! It crowned a wholesome meal of six romaine-leaf "tuna salad boats" chunky with chopped celery, green onion, minced garlic, sweet pickle relish, and real mayonnaise. That meal required no "sacrifice." If I have to eat this way to reverse my diabetes, get off my meds, improve my functioning, extend my life with my wonderful husband, enjoy wearing pretty clothes, and living my previous Catholic faith, I guess I'll suffer through it! The impression that "LCHF/keto" means protein and fat but no fruit or vegetables is common but is simply incorrect.

The way you eat while you lose weight, should be the way you eat for rest of your life if you want to maintain weight loss

That’s why I joined weight watchers . I plateaued at 20 pounds so now I’m counting calories

A good brekkie for those who like carbs is: 1/3 cup rolled oats; 1 heaped tablespoon of chia seed; 1/4 cup currants. Eat as cereal with a low fat milk. Yummm. No artificial sugars or salts added and not too processed. Very satisfying and lines your tummy for ages.

All really good points that everyone has. Losing the weight is almost never the issue— keeping it off is. We can all benefit from eating FEWER carbs, and of the carbs we do eat— make healthier choices most of the time. Then when you chose to share meals and events and treats with loved ones you can do so by controlling how often, the amounts and portion sizes — no quilt required, no I’M BAD required, no starving yourself the next day required. These are just single events over the course of a long lifetime. People with illnesses who feel that alternative ways of eating are their only option— gotta do what they gotta do. You also have to find some type of physical activity (aka exercise) that you enjoy, can include your kids on so that it can be a family adventure and not just you busting ass at the gym. Sorry guys— most women don’t have that luxury. Someone has to take care of the kids.
