So two months in since I started watching what I eat after being told I was pre diabetic. January 2023 I was fit and healthy or so I thought, turns out I’d had a heart attack over Christmas and didn’t know. Then in late January I went to bed one night and woke up in agony I knew I was dying the pain was excruciating. Got to hospital and it turns out I had a blood clot blocking my kidney (only kidney) spent two weeks in ICU on dialysis amongst other things. I left the hospital fully expecting to return with in weeks to be put on dyalisis three times a week. I made sure I did everything possible to give my kidney a chance to repair and it worked. So I’ve spent a year and a half eating to care for that and my body says hang on I’m not liking this!! Hence the pre diabetes steps in and I decide a low carb diet might help , well today I got result of blood tests and in the three months since my last test my GFR has gone up by 4% for anyone suffering with CKD or AKI the. They will know just how good that it’s (pre diet I was hovering between 24/25 %. Now at 28% great news !!
