Okay. So the slow down continues. But I am still psyched to have finally reached the 140's mark! =) Yes, I expected it sooner but any loss is still a win here right? =)

I have a question though. About 3 weeks ago, I noticed that my arms are shrinking slower than the rest of my body. So I started this arm firming exercises hoping that they will catch up. In the last 2 weeks though, I noticed they are becoming muscle-ier than smaller. Now I am worried that they will stay the same size even if now they are muscle and not fat. Should I continue with the arm firming exercises? And is this, in any way, affecting my weight loss? Any information/help will certainly be appreciated! =)

Have a great day everyone! =)

Did you EVER have slender arms? I never have. My mother used to tell me that she would understand if I got liposuction done on my arms someday because all the women in our family (both sides) complained about their arms. I build muscle easily in my arms, too. I have NEVER had slender arms, so I don't expect to. After quite a while without exercising, I noticed that my arms looked "thin" compared to other parts of my body without having lost weight. That's when I realized that I had lost a lot of muscle. Now I have a new perspective. I'd rather feel good and be working out than have thinner arms.

Thanks for sharing your experience gillian! =) Honestly, I don't recall having any issues with arms before. Or maybe I wasn't as conscious about it. Your new perspective is definitely interesting though.

the body decides where it uses the stored fat, my body started at the boobs, then the tummy , but never takes any from my legs (*grumble*) i believe as the BF% drops it will have to adress all storages so for me the legs, for you the arms...

I have to agree that it seems we have a pre-determined body shape that weight loss will only do so much to change. But I'm an avid exerciser & also agree that a firm, toned, healthy body is my preference. Woo hoo for the 140's! Xoxox

Thanks for the replies puhpine and Ruhu! I think I'm going for the toned option too. And I'm starting to feel like they are shrinking as they are getting toned anyway. I guess I was just alarmed because I'm in an unfamiliar territory. Anyway, love and support for you all! =)

If I were you, I'd go for the muscle-y arms. They can be very sexy on a woman as long as you don't go for the power lifter look, which I doubt. The thing is, when you gain weight, you gain SKIN. If you have fat and skin in your arms, adding muscle will not add more skin because as you lose weight, the muscle will replace the fat. Ask Northernmusician about this, too, as he is a body builder type and knows these things. But I say, any workout also burns calories and helps you lose weight, so there's that, too!

P.S. Am I reading your chart correctly that you have lost 40 pounds in 90 days? That's an average of 3.3 pounds per week? Can I just ask how you did that? It's an incredible amount in such a short period of time.

Thanks for the info! I'll send NM a message after this. =) As for my progress, I sort-of had a game plan when I decided to start this journey. I planned to lose at least half of my total target (or more if I can) in my first 4 months so I can gradually adjust until I find a diet/exercise plan I can live with. I didn't want to starve myself either because I really wanted to start living a healthy lifestyle. So what I did was to research what (really) low carb but filling foods I can eat that are cheap and always available here (in the Philippines). For the last 3 months, my staple foods have been jicama and cucumber. Then I pair them with protein that are only either boiled, steamed or grilled (without oil, rubs or sauces). I haven't had rice, bread, sugar (not even artificial sweeteners), oil and others in the last 3 months while sticking to my exercise plan as well. And I feel really good so far! I feel healthier and more energized than I've ever felt before. All thanks to the support of family, friends and, of course, FS buddies! =)
