A little bit up on the week which is disappointing but still fine for maintenance. Although I haven't officially changed my goal weight (in writing) I'm still secretly aiming for 55 kg as a long-term goal.

Yesterday's fast was harder because I went back to the original 'rule ' of 500 calories and didn't have a slice of bread with my evening meal. I was pretty hungry in the evening, but stopped myself from eating with the thought - you've done this all day long, don't spoil it now. And it worked.

Having been on the eating plan for almost two months now, I'm sharing it with a colleague at work today who seems interested. I'll lend him the book and see what he thinks.

That little sentence - "You've done this all day long, don't spoil it now" is worth GOLD, Karen. I use this a lot these days. It makes us focus on the mission. Well done, even with a gain. You're doing just fine. I'm curious, though... how do you feel doing this as a sustainable lifestyle? Is this permanent maintenance level for you? I'd go crazy. :)

Yes, that little phrase of yours came to mind this morning as I struggled with my usual after-work urges. I also deliberately went over (out loud) all the foods I usually wind up snacking on, and told myself " just don't START!" And guess what? That seemed to work! I hope this is a breakthrough for me in this area, because I sure need one! Congrats on your victory, Earthlady. I'm very proud of you :-)

Thanks, both of you. This seems to be working for me, the 5:2 thing, because I can easily sustain it for a day at a time. And I followed my mantra and didn't eat pizza at the weekend!
