well weight has dropped - been hesitant to post this new weight, since the scale ranges from 280 to 288 any given day in the week. but most mornings it has been at 281 and 282. I have told myself in the past that i am not going to focus on the scale but i find it hard, since this is one indicator that this is working.

However i must think of the long run, a healthy body is the goal, once that is achieved the weight should come off and this is not a program or a diet but a way of life. I just have to let go of the fear of failure and trust that my body will respond as long as i keep healthy. i think the rush of seeing the scale decrease often gets replaces with the fear that it will not move down or heaven forbid move up. Then the positive vibes become negative thoughts and soon despair occurs when the scale slow or dont move. this can lead to cheating or even quitting ( i have been here before many many times) I have to avoid this path this time. Look at my progress to date and see that my weight loss has been on par with what i want (2 lbs a week).

I should celebrate this and not dread it. I know many of these are long rants but i find it helpful to look back to see what i was thinking and feeling. and it helps to put my thoughts down and get them out of my head and then i can evaluate the fallacies i put in my head.

anyway the scale is down my blood sugars and other markers are within range indicating a healthy body. Got a good bill of health from my doctor, so this should a good update.

I know exactly how you are thinking (and I'm in the same weight class too). You're right that this has to be a permanent lifestyle change, not a diet. Watch the calories, focus on your heart health and maybe build some athleticism and the rest should come naturally. You've already got a good attitude about it. Don't let the scale stress you.
