With the exception of kids still being out of school, I'm having a good week getting back to routine. The workouts I've done on my lunch hours the past two days have left me feeling some muscle soreness, but I love that feeling as I know it's my body changing.
Tonight, the stars have finally aligned with my husband's schedule and I finally get to go take a hot power-yoga class. I've done power yoga at this studio before, but never had the chance to experience that hot class so I'm very excited to try it out.
Work is still at an all-time high stress. I'm still learning the new position, doing my old job, trying to train someone in to my old job, and now covering for a coworker who is out for the week. Have I mentioned I need to have the books ready for audit in 2 weeks? Oy!
Well...off I go!

Back to work today means back to routine. Yay! I need routine again!
Part of that routine is getting back to the gym during my lunch hour. Today I'm going to establish some benchmarks. Instead of using the scale to gauge progress, it's time to use exercise. Today I'm going to use pull-ups and burpees to use as my benchmark: max dead-hang pull-ups, and 100 burpees for time. Let's see how I can get those numbers to move throughout the year. My goal is to do these benchmarks once a month to document improvements in strength and speed.
2014 has a great year for getting me back into shape...now I'm ready for 2015 to make 2014 look easy!

POST WORKOUT UPDATE: 6 pull-ups, and it took me 11:26 to do the 100 burpees.

Wow is this time of the year busy. I'm enjoying all of the time with family and with being off of work, but I'm starting to miss the routine of the rest of the year.
The biggest part of the routine I miss is my time at the gym. As I usually get the chance to go on my lunch hour, being off of work means that I don't get that time. However, I'm looking at it as a good thing as it is giving my shoulder some much needed rest.
I've been eating well and not going overboard. I'm trying to be a little relaxed about it, but I think a switch has flipped in my brain that doesn't let me go overboard. Yay!
In looking back on my year, I'm sure THRILLED with the results I've made. I've lost 18 pounds and have been able to maintain current weight. I've increased strength and muscle tone (beyond belief!). I've decreased my resting heart rate. I've set personal records in all of my running events this year. It's been a good year...but one I'm still looking to top next year!
Today, however, I'm not feeling too happy despite all of this year's accomplishments. I still feel like I've got some image issues to work out in my brain and in my heart. All of this is probably stemming from the stress of changing jobs and the faltering confidence that comes when you struggle through a the challenge of the change. Today is just one of those good days to reflect and make positive changes moving forward.
This will be my last journal of the year. Happy New Year to you all...and here's to an amazing 2015!!!

No food logging today. And that's OK. You can still expect me to be mindful and active. I just won't be near a computer enough to keep track of it all.

WOW!
I've survived my birthday, and office birthday party, and 2 Christmas parties with ZERO weight fluctuation! Could I possibly have this balance figured out??? Sure I've been enjoying SOME of the holiday treats, but I try to make conscious choices, too. That and trying to stick to some sort of workout routine sure are making it work. Although I'll try not to be too over-confident.
Looking back over the year I'm thrilled by my NSV, too. I'll try to post some of those in the days to come.
