Decided to start the coconut oil of 3 Tbsp per day tomorrow. I have one that has been refined (still no trans fat) so it doesn't taste that great by itself BUT I ordered some from amazon that is supposed to be tastier to eat. I'm stuck in what is hopefully a mini stall. Found a really good deal on the 20oz diet pepsi's. 5 dollars for a case of 15, I don't drink much soda but once in a while I just want one and at 33 cents each instead of 1.50 from the store normally I can have it sit there.

I was using coconut oil for awhile. It really helped me to go into full ketosis. I had to work my way up though and never could use more than 2 Tbsp per day. I also switched to '72 Atkins Induction, which worked for me. Good luck and keep us posted!

Atkins '72 is short for the original version of the Atkins diet - "Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution," which was published in 1972. There are several versions and this is the one I tried after doing the new version, "New Atkins for a New You" also known as "NANY." NANY induction did not work for me, so after doing some research, I switched. The induction phase is way more strict with mostly fat and protein and up to 2 cups of lettuce. Or, no lettuce at all if that keeps you from going into ketosis. Anyway, it's been working for me, and I am now up to about 10 net carbs or about 15 total carbs a day.

if you have a Trader Joe's near you, they sell an organic, cold processed coconut oil that is great for cooking with. I use it to cook my eggs every morning. And if I do any stir fry, it is more stable at high temps. I don't think I would go for eating it straight though.

The closest TJ's is about 2 hours away and it will be coming soon in Sarasota so no luck there. :( I do have a whole foods that I can get to on the weekend that isn't too far out of my way but the price is crazy there for it.

Do you have Kroger or King Soopers? They carry an organic, cold processed coconut oil, also. At least the King Soopers here does... Whole Foods does charge too much for *everything, IMO. Also, when I wasn't allowing myself anything sweet (via sugar substitutes), eating coconut oil straight was like a dessert for me. Yum! It did get to a point though where I can not even stand to cook with it now. I'm sure that will pass, but in the meantime I cook everything in butter.

No Krogers or King Soopers near me but Publix carries Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil but it's 20 something dollars a jar. I ordered it online for less than half the price. I can handle the refined for cooking but think I would prefer the unrefined one. At least with amzaon I have prime (free for 6 months, hubby is working on his MBA) so no shipping cost. I can find it locally but the price difference is way too much. I believe in buying locally first BUT not when something has that huge of a price difference.
