I started feeling weak, sick and light-headed. I felt under nourished so I added a little more carbs to my diet and picked up a few pounds. Given my malabsorption due to the gastric bypass seven years ago, I will need to switch from Atkins to a plan that allows for more variety of all types of foods to afford the opportunity to absorb more vitamins/minerals. I may switch to South Beach and see how that goes.

Have you been taking any multi-vitamins and/or supplements? I've never felt more energetic and refreshed since starting Atkins again. My blood pressure is under control and I feel much more aware. Does that make sense? The biggest difference, is that I don't have the inflammmation in by body I had after Christmas. I went to the doctor the about two days after Christmas and my blood profile was out the roof. My blood pressure was way up and they said I had inflammation in my body. This prompted them to order a Stress Test to see if I had a blockage. Well, I didn'nt... Then they wanted me to take Lipitor, becuase of my Cholesterol was so high. Well, I didn't... I started Atkins Induction instead on Jan 2nd. I can tell the inflammation is gone, my blood pressure is under control, and I can't wait until I get my blood work done again, and they find out I have not been taking the Lipotor. I even have a side bet going on what my numbers are going to be.

Im on day 12 now, and I still feel that underlying "crumminess" get with lowcarbing. I still get dizzy (and Ive been drinking 100 oz water at least! Good luck with your diet choice; whatever you choose, stick with it!

Yes, I am required to take multivitamins as well as potassium and magnesium supplements because of the bypass. Thanks for sharing your story and for the well wishes. I'll keep posting to see how this week goes on South Beach. If I pick up more weight, I will come back to Atkins and just refine it a bit to suit my system.

When you add back carbs it should be first more veggies, then some lower carb fruit. That shouldn't pack on the weight as quickly and keep you from craving. Good luck.
