So, yesterday was my first day on the SBD, and this morning at 3 a.m. I woke up so hungry! My stomach was aching! I couldn't wait for breakfast (but I did). I guess I shouldn't have skipped dessert, but I'd had a fairly substantial dinner. I know that you're not supposed to feel hungry on this diet, so I guess I need to eat more of the approved foods.

You can eat whenever you are hungry. And it's recommended to eat about every 2 hours or so. I know at night, I have any extra drink, or some celery and salsa, or a sugar free popsicle about an hour before bedtime. Be sure to eat some cheese, or a handful of nuts in between meals to tied you over too. Your stomach will get used to it. Just give it a few days for the adjustment! good luck! You can do it!

You definately want to avoid feeling hungry. Snacking is key. So is eating plenty of food at mealtime. In terms of preparing meals I end up cooking more meat and more veggies than I did in the past. Dinner is probably the easiest meal to get creative with plenty of volume. We have been eating sirloin steaks (rather than NY strip), chicken breast, salmon, on the grill. Along with that we will grill veggies, or will saute / steam different veggie dishes. We have a great cauliflower dish, another with zuchinni and chick peas, and another with eggplant. Lunches are typically big salads (with plenty of advacado, lunch meat, cheese, and a vinegar based dressing. Remember that meals like lunch and dinner should have some healthy fats-- they help your body feel full. My main snacks are: peanut butter and celary; almonds; lunch meat rolled up with provolone; plain yogurt. Also-- you need fun things to eat/drink. During the day my main treat is iced cappacino. During the evening I have seltzer water with lime or a splash of cranberry juice. Dessert includes 40 calorie fudge-sicles (sp?), and some super low carb fudge bars (available at tops). ok-- that was more than I intended, but you get the idea.
