I'm so irritated. I have been following my diet, to the damn T, working out twice a day and here I am... gaining weight... This is so damn frustrating. My brother says muscle weighs more than fat but SHIT I'm fucking 166.6lbs... I want to lose weight... not GAIN... I do measure myself on my weigh day... and there was a slim down there... which shows me something is working... but I'd rather be losing weight... seriously.

Why are you working out twice a day? What are you going to do when you reach your weight? I would kindly suggest not to focus on the scale at all. It's pointless. Also there are a lot of variables that come into place: training, your macros, your rest, stress levels, etc.

If I'm reading this right, you gained .4 of a lb? That's nothing - most likely water retention, which isn't a bad thing if you're working out twice daily. I weigh myself daily, and it helps me realize that weight can fluctuate 1 - 3 lbs depending on hydration levels. And yes, I can also get upset about increases, but we must learn to take these things for what they are and not let the numbers on the scale affect us negatively. I think you're doing great, hang in there!!!

carb cycling for the win. Try it. Look up heidi powells carb cycling program. Its free online. Wife and I both did 1 month of a whole 30 clean eating. Both did great getting healthier. I carb cycling and lost more weight though. If you just constantly eat less calories you body figures that out and you'll stop losing.

How long are your workouts? Can you pare it down a bit? You might be building more muscle than you need/want.

I would keep note of the last time you ate before you weighed yourself because it could be the weight of your stomach content leftover from the night before. Stomach content does not equal fat and weight fluctuations are due to stomach content like fluids, carb retention, sodium intake and water retention. Hope that helps.

muscle is denser than fat but it doesn't weigh more. a pound is a pound no matter how you look at it.

I've heard the cheat days are good. If you're eating extra low calories, cheat days help spike your metabolism and prove to your body that you're not in starvation mode, and it can afford to let go of extra fat. I'm not saying go crazy, but maybe put away the scale, get out and enjoy yourself for the day. You've been doing a great job, go treat yourself to some relaxing time! :)

My trainer told me last night that there is a very fine line. He told me to look up the Miller Method. He said if you aren't eating enough for all of the workouts, your body will store fat the fat. Maybe you need an extra meal a day. Worth looking into.

Me too Suzzetteheather, I'm in that same boat. I've lost 6 inches off stomach and 5 off hips -- but cannot loose pounds. My weight roller coasters between the same 5 pounds no matter what I do. I just quit Weight Watchers because my weight stayed exactly the same for 3 mos and now I've quite losing inches too. Aaarrrrggghhhhh. Nutritionists have told me it's because I don't eat ENOUGH so my body thinks it has to hold on to what it has. I've drastically changes WHAT I eat - and I love FatSecret cause it breaks down the Fat/Carb/protein.

I'm starting to get to that point as well, I'm starting to review my overall diet to see if I'm under counting calories. If you are doing weights for gains, then that would definitely cause a weight gain because you would be building muscle. I've also started monitoring how my clothes fit - if looser but the scale is not moving then I'm losing fat but gaining muscle. You'll probably have to do a reset on your diet. I think you are doing great on your journey to a healthier you.

I've run into the same problem. Over the past 9 months, I discovered a way to blow through some of the weight barriers. I've been on a low calorie diet and have run into a few weight barriers, that have been frustrating. Here's the secret. As I've lowered the calorie count, my body compensated and the weight loss slowed considerably. To change my body's respond, I upped my veggie intake. I basically went from a single veggie with my meals to a double veggie, replacing a carb, which was usually some type of pasta or rice. I was surprised at how it worked. Blew right through the barrier. Hope this helps.

you really shouldn't stress about weight gain if you're doing all the right things. there are so many variables to body mass, you must also consider water weight, menstrual cycle and your digestive system depending on when you go etc. what really matters is seeing the difference in your clothes. if you're training twice a day you will gain muscle mass. try taking pictures wearing same items and see if you can tell the difference. weigh yourself once or twice a month after your first pee in the morning in your birthday suit!!! relax you're doing well.

i was at 185 FOREVER.. it will break eventually. Try adding in more cardio, less lifting and cut the carbs.. that helped me..

Check how your clothes fit and how you feel; also check your body measurements and track them as well so that you have visible proof which helps so that you don't feel so discouraged and frustrated. The body measurements go a long way. And remember many factors go into our weight besides food and exercise...water intake, meds you take and girlie time factor in as well, plus the whole fact that our bodies will slow down after a while of us losing that weight.

Suzzetteheather, you say you're "obsessed" (so are many of us), but twice-daily workouts? Why not let your body rest? That's as important as losing weight.

It's really easy to convert 20 pounds of fat to 20 pounds of muscle when you are just starting out. It will level out and you will notice a lot of looser clothing and then you will notice the fat loss. Just remember more muscle helps to burn more fat in the long run. You will get there. Have faith!

You're probably building muscle. All the protein I see you eat only helps that. But your overall trend is down. So, just keep at it; It will come off.
