Jurnal Magdalena003, 23 Agu 16

Yesterday, as noted earlier, I skipped my strength and abs exercises. Today, I didn't. Since the t-shirt that I wanted to wear was wrinkled, I decided to throw it in the dryer while I did the work out (I'm home alone). I admit that most of my visible weight is in my stomach area as I have long fancied my beer. Of course when I'm standing or sitting, it spreads out and doesn't look as bad as it actually is. But today when I was shirtless, in the plank position, I caught a glimpse of all of my belly fat hanging in one place. It was a glorious hanging cheese ball of stretch marks. Now, I decided to add exercise into the WOE in hopes of preventing sagging skin as I know that can be a side effect of weight loss. I guess my concern is that I might not be doing enough or perhaps not taking the right steps in order to get rid of this thing. I'd rather know about it now in the early stages then find out that I've been doing the wrong thing or working the wrong area for months? Any advice? Any success stories from others who ditched the pabst can (or whatever kind you drank)?
Please and Thanks.

Sorry, no advice BUT this did remind me of when I was out of the shower drying my hair bent over and happened to glance in the mirror! OH MY! I got rid of the mirror!!! "Glorious hanging cheese ball of stretch marks" LOVE IT, so poetic.... Hang in there!!!

Get rid of the alcohol and processed foods and amp up the whole foods, water and planks. Were your stomach muscles firm prior to your weight gain? There are creams you can use to minimize the appearance of the stretch marks. The skin may or may not firm up......time will tell.

Hi Magdalena....for those stomach stretch marks.....have you tried brushing ( just like it sounds....a hairbrush or a scrubber for the sink) ( the idea is to bring the blood to under the skin with the collegen for repairs) them twice a day and coating with coconut oil in the evenings? soft beautiful skin...you will feel a differenc the next day , and see it in about a week... ..

I have already ditched the hooch and switched to whole foods. It's hard to say if my stomach muscles were firm before my weight gain. My gain came from a twin pregnancy. I was always thin before that, no matter what I ate or how much I drank. I never bothered to drop the weight and about 5 or 6 months after I had the boys, I went right back to my old habits. I gained about 20 pounds over the last 5 years, which I guess isn't too terrible. But now that I am working to get to a more healthy weight, I guess I was just wondering if that would slim up too. I know that I have to lose weight all over, but that is the area in which I need to lose the most.

You appear to be fairly young still (keep in mind everyone under 35 is fairly young to me now) and didn't really pack on a lot of extra weight so you should be fine with diet and exercise tightening it back up.

Well, 20lbs since I had the children and about the 30lbs I gained from the pregnancy. So it's been about 50lbs in the last 6 years, but one must gain while growing humans. :)

You had twins and a significant weight gain, so just be prepared for the abdominal skin and muscles to not firm and tighten completely even with exercise and diet especially if you had a c-section. I say stick with your regimen and see what happens.

Try to follow Northernmuscian's posts. He does the caliper measurements for body fat. I think that might be the key you are looking for. 10% or less. #Northernmuscian

I think you are young enough to recover your skin tone as well as muscle tone.

I think Sarah has a point that you may be able to improve your skin tone, but don't expect it to happen overnight. One article I read said it could take up to a year for the skin to recover, so give it time and don't give up!

Keep doing those planks, add some side twist planks, hip taps, they do wonders. It'll get there, takes time and effort, plus consistency, keep your food in check and voila! Before u know it you'll be amazed!!

Mistybenner is spot on! That's what got mine flat; planks. Amp those planks up.

No pabst. It was coca cola for me. Read your bio. It's hilarious. :)

And yes. Success.

I wish I enjoyed sunblock as much as I did when I wrote that bio. I've been out walking daily and knew I was forgetting something. Ow!

Afraid the only real cure for a lot of hanging skin is plastic surgery, but keep going and see how fit you can get before deciding on that.

I believe finally the flab goes away with more loss. The problem is, it goes away where you don't want it at the same time. You can try exercises in those areas, but it is tough. I have posted some links related to belly flab.

Keep that sense of humor and you'll do just fine in life.

If you haven't already, try adding some weight training into your workout routine. It will rev up your metabolism and burn more fat. But....the extra skin may take a while to contract, if at all. I have the same problem, but at 54 years old, I figure it's better to be healthy, fit, and have some extra skin than to be sickly and overweight.
