Out of food again. I really need to get in a routine of stopping to get groceries a couple times a week. I go right by a good grocery store on my way home, but the car refuses to turn in, just wants to go home. Or maybe that's me. I just want to collapse at the end of the day. This week I've let the stress and overload at work get to me, so it has been hard to care about eating right, and I've made too many dashes to the fast food places.

New day, new decisions.

Read your bio and I want to suggest that you research fatty liver disease on your own. The diet your doctor suggested doesn't seem to be supported by WebMD. They say reduce carbohydrate foods, not just sugars and alcohol but also grains. Otherwise eat a balanced diet (whatever that is). If you are trying to eat low-fat you're probably ending up doing the opposite of that. Eating fat isn't what causes fatty liver. The fact that you have it may be part of your fatigue. Mahjohn may have some suggestions for you - he is very well informed and up-to-date on matters of diet and health. I hesitated to write this because you certainly don't need any additional stress by questioning your doctor's advice, but sadly many doctors don't know much about how nutrition impacts health. If there had been a drug to prescribe for fatty liver, that's what you would have been given. Best wishes!

I would strongly suggest you explore the dietdoctor.com website. Lots of helpful information about how to break the cycle you are in. I had fatty liver by ultrasound and a mild elevation in my liver enzymes and by changing my WOE to LCHF, I have reversed this. It can be done.

Hmmm...Trackin64 may be correct. I think typical MDs know little about true nutrition plans. Carbs are sugar and that may not be helping. Also maybe check out www.dietdoctor.com and see if a plan such as LCHF could help you.

How about dashing home and making good food choices online and having it all delivered. I assume grocery stores deliver where you are. It may be more expensive but then so is fast food...... :)

OR use a shopping app like "Out of Milk" to make a shopping list so that if you can force your car to stop at the shop, you can whizz round buying only whats on the list and be out in the shortest amount of time, with only what you planned to buy. And the great thing about the app is you can move items in the order that the shop is laid out and as you tick off the foods, they sink out of sight till you want to make a new list :)

Thanks all. Good to get the support and encouragement. I'm having a better day today and started with Chobani non-fat plain Greek yogurt with frozen blueberries mixed in - like having ice cream for breakfast! Also meditated this morning and afterwards had my breakfast at the table looking out on a beautiful sunny Florida morning. Just needed to have a fit of blues and now that's out of the way. Helps to have my online support group on hand.
