Huh. Carb cycling sounds interesting, but I don't think I'm at a point where I can safely do 30 grams of carbs for the day. I've done 39 on a fasting day though. I've been trying to up my protein intake anyway, I'll have to keep carb cycling in mind for whenever a plateau hits. Thanks for the tip btw. 🫂

@YOH - I was just working on mine for tomorrow and can get it to 40 for carbs. I need to look at Diana’s food journal the day she did that to see how she did it!! All I can say is impressive!

@Yoh, very, VERY carefully. No sodas, *try* to avoid fruit juice or anything that needs sweetening, avoid bread especially... any carbs you take in should prolly be some kind of rice or pasta (complex carbs). If you don't already have one, get a kitchen scale to weigh your food out. This is, of course, coming from someone who loves carbs and legit needs them to function (I've tried Atkins and my body did NOT like it; I felt sluggish asf on 30g of carbs) due to... well, genetics. Apparently my Germanic ancestors were from the Hesse region, so they were big on gathering and agriculture (I believe they're still known for their beautiful gardens!) and thus, relied heavily on fruits and such for nutrition. Having a DNA test done on myself kinda clued me into how my body actually functions. Shame that I like meat so much though, it tastes so good... 🤤

Cyrus i dont like soda and most of my carbs seem to come from bananas and fruit. Little from low carb wraps. I dont get it

@YOH I love fruit too and I just peeked at Diana's food journal for that day and it is a lot of vegetables like zucchini, peppers, sweet potato, chorizo and her protein was from fish, beef and cheese.

Thanks rpl. Im going to ponder. I definitely don’t bodybuild or lift serious weights anymore its just interesting to me. Sounds like maybe doesn’t have the same effect if bulk of excercise is from walking and the workouts Im getting which are a lot of compound squats with weighted ball or small dumbbells and lunges and abs.

@YOH - I have a rest day tomorrow so I am going to try it. I have never ate carbs that low so we will see if my will power gives out! I don’t have any advice on the matter but found it interesting.

Red porch, it is restrictive but I just tell myself it's only one day. Here's a few tips. Plan and prep. I make snack bags full of low carb veggies like cucumbers, radishes, and peppers to munch on Ideally you should eat clean but for me to get 125 grams of protein I eat deli turkey and drink protein shakes. ( like quest or premier protein) Be careful of protein bars, they have to many carbs. I also eat a lot of eggs and tuna. Even if you can do 40 carbs you will be doing good. Remember not to starve yourself as you need to eat whatever your RDI is. That can be tricky when you are giving up carbs.
Just make sure that the next day you eat at least 70-100+ carbs or you can feel weak. Especially if you work out. Let me know what you think!💜

Red porch, let me add that on a carb cycle day my lunch is usually a piece of chicken ( 4-5 oz) and dinner is usually a steak (5-6 oz) or something pretty substantial with a side of broccoli.

Fruits are carb-loaded, @Yoh! See if you can swap out for veggies and get those same micronutrients. You'll decrease your carbs that way. 🫂

Thanks D for the information! I am giving it a try today and meal planned my whole day. I do have a grueling workout tomorrow with lunges and I am on high reps so that takes a lot out of me so I will be sure to get some carbs on board in the morning and afternoon! I will keep you posted YOH! We can do it- it is only 1 day! LOL

@YOH if you don't hear from me I passed out! LOL If D can do this I can because she is my inspiration when the going get's tough. Shoot I have still been trying to get that last pesky couple of pounds off from vacation, being sick and hurt. Look at D she did it just like that with determination!
