I'm struggling with getting enough protein. I can't have peanut butter or fish or seafood in the house because my grandma is severely allergic and she has dementia and she will just eat whatever. Peanut butter and fish and canned tuna used to be my go to for protein but now I'm clueless. There's only so many ways u can make chicken that is healthy and the same for beef and pork. Add in the fact that we r low income and can't afford to buy some stuff. I need ideas. Also hints on how to settle nausea because sometimes the only thing I can eat is cereal. Hot food messes me up for some reason.

beef or turkey jerky (the low sodium and low sugar version) can boost protein in a pinch. I get the Tilamook kind, which they sell at Walmart

Store your unopened cans of tuna and the peanut butter in a container that can be locked or in a cupboard with a childproof handle on it. Take the empty containers directly to the trash. Wash the plates, cutlery Immediately after you are done. Your nausea issue depends on what is causing it. Use GOOGLE to come up with a list of foods that contain protein. A little research will help you come up with some alternatives. Do you have an Epi Pen at home to use should you ever need it. Grandmas can be tricky. People who are allergic to shellfish are often allergic to strawberries.

dried beans and lentils, as well as walnuts stored in the freezer. These are my budget friendly go-tos for protein and fiber.

Have you tried protein powders/shakes?

I get extra protein through lentils, beans, cottage cheese and hard cheeses, yogurt, potatoes, quinoa, and protein shakes or bars.

As a vegetarian I think about this a lot! But I never have a problem exceeding my protein goals for the day, the issue I sometimes have is protein sources without the fat and carbs! There are so many good suggestions here already for plant-based proteins, but on the low income front - I just did a quick calculation and (if my math is correct), 14oz of organic firm store brand tofu (Simple Truth from Ralph's) is 2.5 times CHEAPER than the same weight of the cheapest chicken breasts. If you're an even slightly confident cook there is a whole world of tasty and nutritious (and affordable) plant-based meals, even if you don't cut out the meat. My sympathies on the nausea, that must be tough. I sometimes just eat chickpeas out of the can if I can't stomach anything else, more nutritious than cereal - but check for salt levels on canned beans. Also dry beans and lentils are much cheaper if you have the time/patience to prepare them (red lentils don't even need soaking though!). You have a good resource here with all these knowledgable eaters, good luck 💚

Whole eggs are the best source of protein there is. They more efficiently convert to muscle mass than any other protein source. They should be eaten soft boiled, soft scrambled, over easy, or poached. In other words, don't overcook the yolk. I eat 3-6 a day. They are very filling and can be made into quiche or frittatas to mix things up. Good luck.

For a quick hit, I pour 3/4 cup liquid egg whites into skillet, season, add 2T fat free cream cheese, put between 2 slices toasted keto bread. (I often also wilt spinach & add that.)

BTW, the "quick hit" has 34g protein combined from egg white, cream cheese, and bread.

There are many sources of protein mentioned here, some more bio-available then others, but, if you do love your peanut butter, and want something similar, have you considered tree nut butters, such as macadamia butter or cashew butter? Is she allergic to peanuts (a legume)? Or also tree nuts (cashew, macadamias, hazelnuts, almonds, pecans pistachios, & walnuts). Do keep in mind some of those nut butters are processed in facilities that also process peanuts, and there may be small residues of peanut material.

Hi!! I use whey protein powder to complete my protein intake. I add it to my lunch smoothie and when I eat cereal(corn flakes) add a scoop of vanilla whey protein, it taste like vanilla ice cream 🤣. Also making your own snacks is another way as well, you can add it to cookies and it will sweeten and add flavor (I make oatmeal cookies with vanilla whey protein)

Premier Protein shakes are great and not too expensive - 30 grams of protein.

I was told to only eat lean non processed red meats. How about lactaid cottage cheese and fair life protein drinks are 30 grams. Have a Sams club friend buy you a case

Almond cashew butter, nuts, beans, protein shakes, eggs! Nausea you just gotta make yourself eat a bite of fruit, it’s usually due to low blood sugar. Orange slices are great for this

I buy my protein shakes from amazon. More for the money. Ratio brand in vanilla.
