I’ve eaten a lot of Halloween candy and other unhealthy foods this past week. I had a therapy session yesterday and we talked about diet burnout. I so desperately want to be back on the right diet to maintain my new weight but there’s a tug-of-war in me between “hurry up and do some thing“ and “screw this crap, I don’t feel like it”. This literally happened as I was opening another KitKat, my hands never stopped unwrapping while my brain said “at least wait until noon, just wait an hour” but the chocolate was already in my mouth because my other brain trumped the controlling one.
I’m convinced now that mindset should be my focus. My therapist also said to get serious about intuitive eating, which I get the basics but I’ll read further into.
Side note, but important. My therapist and I discussed how I’ve used food (compulsive eating), margaritas, and smoking as my go-to ways of soothing myself for so long, and all three are not healthy ways to soothe. The focus now is to find my triggers and healthier ways to soothe. I huffed that exercise is probably one of those ways, and yes, it is. Also probably meditation and yoga.
