I don't eat between 6pm and 11am pretty much daily. Sometimes not til 3pm. Does that count as fasting? Dinner is at 5.30 and I don't "snack". I'm confused. I keep seeing posts "Fasted for X hours", how does that work?

What's allowed on a fast? I know that sounds odd but if I don't get enough fluids it may well hospitalize me. I live in central Florida and it's drying even in the AC.

I think most people on here talk about fasting in a metabolic sense, so just a period with no calories. Water is beneficial, and usually only restricted in a religious-type of fast. Some might have tea or plain coffee on their fast. If you only eat between 11a and 6p, you could say you are doing 17:7 intermittent fasting, which is also known as IF.

It's just a tool to control calories. I use it. Breaking it does nothing.

Anne don't get caught up in others thoughts on fasting or weight control. It can mean many different approaches to controlling food intact. In the most simple terms it can mean eliminating snacking all day and reducing eating outside of your daily meals.

hunneebun It's just the way I eat. I don't snack. I don't eat until my tummy rumbles, I stop when it does, I don't eat after dinner (always thought that was what dinner was for). I was just trying to figure out what "fasting" is really. I think I'm doing pretty well but I don't believe this chat features is what I want/need in my life. Too much bullshit.
