Jurnal squigglywiggly, 31 Mar 11

Ugh we were going to get a woodburner installed on Monday but my hubby's boss said don't get the one we had been assigned, and that the installers are bad too. So we have to cancel all of that and now we will not be getting heating so quick.

After Tuesday the weather gets bad here. So much stress!!!! Thankfully we can do it through hubby's work and get a decent woodburner still for free, and installed for free, but it won't be as fast.

*sigh*

One step forward and two steps back LOL

Hi Squiggs, hope you get the stove before it gets too cold. Your such a brave soul. Want to tell you something funny. I had my Happy Light on and my husband has been giving me a hard time over it. You know laughing and such. Then he said he was wondering why his glasses were getting darker. I busted out laughing then.. He is such a nut. Have as good an evening as you can my dear friend....Bren

You call it a stove over there? Here it was our only source of heating and is in our lounge. Our chimney was wrecked in the 6.3 aftershock. We have no / I repeat/ NO heating for this winter now. I don't know how long till we can get one put in. Over here the stove is the oven in the kitchen. Am I interpreting it wrong?

Squiggs, Our stove/oven is what we cook o n. A furnace or heater usually heats the house. There are wood burning stoves that are used to cook and heat, but they are usually older models. So bad you will be cold this winter.

Oh no, Squiggs....sorry that this has happened. We call them wood burning stoves, yep, and lots of people use them just for heat, but others use them for cooking and heat. At least it will still be free, and maybe since it is hubby's work, they will get to it a little quicker.

Squiggs, I am not sure if you have reliable electricity, but there are several electrical heaters I've seen online that are safe and can be used to heat a room. They can be moved from room to room. Perhaps an idea if your electric is reliable and can afford the power bill increase. Just a thought. Some are enclosed oil and run on electric in case you are worried about tip over during the shake and tremors. Just a thought. The oil ones take a while to heat up though and don't heat much space. Some of the forced heat electric heaters make it quite toasty. I know a little on this becasue I went heater shopping recently for my office that is like being in a fridge in winter and oven in summer. No AC/Heat. Melissa

Squiggs, I was just about to mention the electric ones. We use them here at work sometimes and while they aren't as good as heating an entire house, they will heat a room quite well. And you could also try a heated blanket?????? Sorry you are still dealing with this. These are the things others don't realize until they experience it themselves. Sending ya love my friend.
