Happy rainy windy stormy Sunday! We have weather today again. So maybe not going up on the roof to decorate after all. Swam yesterday and did a small upper body workout later. A little sore from that. I tried to do some sitting up from flat yesterday, still a no go. I have no strength on the right compared to the left and it's weird, so that's what I'm going to work on a little today. If there's a break in the clouds, I'll swim, if not, longer walk for the puppies.
Swim stats for me. There was a brief interruption when the debris from my giant birds got dumped into the pool with a big gust of wind, hit pause on the current and the watch, but it does screw up the METs.
815 strokes, average heart rate 135 (off), 8.7 METs (off) with 5 minutes in peak and the rest in cardio except for my time out. My guess is that the real numbers for the swim were closer to the mid 140's and a 10 MET effort. Felt good, felt strong. Ironically, it seems that the long break recuperating has allowed me to reclaim my stroke technique from when I was younger and keeping the current down a little is letting me get better at swimming itself. This would be a good way to work up to competition except that I'm not going to and I have to start working harder on my kick technique again. Thinking about mounting a camera up on the fence and recording a few sessions so I can take an honest look at my overall form. I'm sure there's lots of room for improvement in this phase three of swim life. I miss not having a coach sometimes.
I'm so thankful that I started becoming more active again when I did. I have yet another friend who is experiencing a health crisis after years of kicking butt at work but ignoring her physical health. I'm hoping that her eyes are opened once she's out of crisis and she gets back to balance. That's up to her though. I seem to be in this place where peoples' bodies are starting to falter from years of neglect. I'm not perfect either, I spend way too much time in a chair and I'm too emotionally invested in my job. Thankful I have the dogs to drag me out of the house and move most days. We're good for one another.
