I enjoyed an extra long walk in the desert today. Here are some of the things I saw.
Photo Description:
1) The Castle Dome Mountains are 25 miles away, and look amazing on the horizon. Castle Dome is the larger formation on the left.
2) The hills of the Little Picacho Wilderness Area. The vegetation tends to grow in the lowest lying areas, because that's where the most moisture can be found.
3) In the foreground is the Little Picacho Wash with the Castle Dome Mountains in the background.
4 & 5) The Little Picacho Wash, which channels rainwater to the nearby reservoir.
6 & 7) Wild burros (Equus asinus) live out here. I love seeing wild animals.
8) This is a Sonoran collared lizard (Crotaphytus nebrius).
9) I took this picture from the other side of the wash. You can see our campsite in the center with the rest of the campground behind.
