So, I figured I needed to record this, so here goes:
When I started, my BMI was 42.4=morbidly obese. I am now 36.5=just plain old obese When I barely make One-derland (199lbs), I will still be considered obese, but my BMI will only be 32.1.
I will have to lose down to 185 to be considered 'overweight' with a BMI of 29.9. BTW, at my goal weight of 165, i will STILL be considered 'overweight'. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

It's just a number. You are so much more than just a number. You are so much more than just a number. Come on.. say it with me. Susan, the other day a friend who happens to be a doctor told me I needed to slow down and not lose anymore weight ... but you and I both know had he seen my 'stats' on a medical record and not seen me, he'd have said 'overweight.. needs to lose 25lbs.'. So let's do it again. It's just a number and you are so much more than just a number, label or average statistic.

I think body fat percentage is a more accurate measurement for overall body composition health than BMI.

I look GOOD at 165.
I am happy with how I look at 165.
I am a size 9-10 at 165.
I look healthy at 165.
The people who made up that BMI chart are smoking crack.
Just sayin'.

Bella is right, it is just a number. I myself want to eventually get to 165. I feel and look good at that weight, and yes, statistically, I would still be "overweight" but I would be healthy!!! I would have the curves you are supposed to have!! That little bit of extra fat at that weight is good!! And I agree with you, the people who make up those things are nuts!!!

Sometimes those charts are a joke. At the mall there is a scale with a chart- based on my height, gender, and body type, I'm supposed to be between 148-165. I'll be happy with a toned 170. If I weighed 148 I'd look like an emaciated Ethiopian.

Yea...I had a nurse tell me once that I need to weigh 135lbs......I told her NO and discussed it with the doctor, who agreed with me.
At 140lbs, you can count my ribs. It's not a pretty sight.
I might (when I get closer to my goal) re-assess and set a goal of 159, simply because that would satisfy those BMI Nazis and make me "normal" BMI. We'll see.
