Getting my exercise in the Flathead National Forest at Glacier Rim this week has been so spiritually uplifting. I just love being here, and my walks have been getting slightly longer each day since I've been here. This is bear country though, so I have to carry bear spray with me, which is a little unnerving, but so far, so good. Photo Description: 1 & 2) The North Fork Flathead River runs through the Glacier Rim area of the Flathead National Forest. 3) Ox-eye Daisies (Leucanthemum vulgare) grow wild here. 4 & 5) More photos of the North Fork Flathead River. 6) Wyoming Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja linariifolia) 7) A fuzzy-horned bumblebee (Bombus mixtus) nectaring on spotted knapweed (Centaurea stoebe).

You'll be glad you came, silkian. While you're here, you can also visit Glacier National Park, which is nearby. We aren't going to the park this year due to the pandemic, but it's absolutely incredible!

Thank you for sharing your lovely trip photos. They mean a lot to those of us still in our homes with no possible trips anytime soon.

We're headed to that area next month. We ran into a grizzly mama and cubs last year in the Tetons and let me tell you those animals are massive in person. Hope it doesn't happen again this year..

My favorite today is the first one, because it shows hills at various distances and the curve of the river. A close second is the Indian Paintbrush, different from ours in Texas I think, but similar. Thank you for sharing

absolutely gorgeous pics as always. do you know the three different bear protocols (black, brown, grizzly)? worth looking up if you don't and you're nervous.

Fishing is definitely a big sport up here, mountainman, along with boating. A lot of people do both simultaneously. I'm not much into fishing myself, but I sure wouldn't mind drifting down the river on a boat.

As an avid fly fisherman, you just made me day with these pics and ruined my day because I'm not there. Lovely!

I saw lots of bears last year when I went to through Canada to Alaska, sammarandola. I saw a couple of real big ones in the Yukon Territory. Luckily, I was safely inside my truck.

Thank you, shirfleur! That first picture is my favorite too. If I had a printer, I'd make a few postcards with that one.

I've learned a little about the differences between the bears, Katsolo. I've read about the grizzlies having a shoulder hump, longer claws, wider face and smaller, round ears. Apparently, the grizzlies are the most aggressive, dangerous bears, but all of them can potentially be dangerous, right? I've just been avoiding all bears, to be safe. I don't even trust a dog I don't know, and I love dogs. So far, I've only seen bears while I've been safely inside a vehicle. If I see one while I'm outside, my first priority will be to quickly get inside. Would that be your advice?
