Well I've not been doing the exercise program for the past couple of weeks thanks to a medical condition that popped up (totally unrelated to the diet or exercise program) and the outpatient surgery that followed. Tonight I make my triumphant return to exercising! I have managed to continue my weight loss just following the diet, but I have to wonder where I might have been if I'd been able to follow the exercise program as well. I lost 7 lbs in a little over two weeks without exercising much at all. I'm wearing clothes that I couldn't wear just a month ago and looking better in clothes I was stuffing myself into. I went to a benefit dinner the other day and actually looked nice for a change, wearing my clothes instead of my clothes wearing me. There is nothing like sitting down and looking down at your button down shirt straining to keep from popping buttons off. I was comfortable in my own skin for the first time in months. I have only a few more pounds to go before I'm back below 300 lbs and I am very much looking forward to that day.

Ok, first workout of the next phase is in the record books. My arms feel like lead. I should have kept lifting weights or something damn it, now it feels like I lost some of what I'd gained. That's ok, it took work to get there, I can work back. The things I hated most about the workout are the things I love most now. The leg lift, bicycle kicks, crunches work my most problem area and I look at my belly while I'm doing them and I imagine it getting stronger, smaller, better with every exercise. I was looking down at my belly while doing push ups (easier for me than others because my belly almost touches the ground while my arms are fully extended) and I could see that there was more skin sagging than their was flab, the way it was before. I've already lost 5 inches on my waist in only a month. That gives me motivation to do more. I'm also working out for my wife. She's kinda lost her will to do this. I'm going to show her that it can be done. I'm going to be her living, breathing motivational tool to get her down to where she needs to be. My arms are shaking as I type this, lol.

One thing about the workout... I have questionable knees at best. I have difficulty doing the jumping jacks and the thrust squats. One of my friends is a 234562 degree black belt in Taekwondo and an expert in physical fitness. I asked him about my creaky old knees and he told me to try jumping in place without leaving the balls of my feet to lessen the impact on my knees and joints and its worked out great for me so far. The cowbell move gave me some fits in my right elbow too, but I went a little slower and it seemed to help.
