I have no idea what is wrong with me.. I can not stop eating at night.. the hours between 8 and 10 are killing me.. last night I ate a ton of food. I did not bother to log it I know it was over my calories and not good choices.. I do fine all day then wreck everything at night. I have got to get over this. I am gaining weight and that is not good. I am certainly not throwing in the towel.. but I feel like my efforts as of late are a joke. I feel like it is just a will power issue. I just dont know what to do to stop the late night binge. :P

The same thing has been happening to me for the pass week and halve. I have realized it is because I am not eating the way I should. I have been skipping lunch because there is so much to do at work and so when I do finally get a lunch I just grab something or I will wait until I get home and again eat something that is not appropriate. I also have not been drinking my water or exercising consistently. I have not been planning my meals and going grocery shopping the way I should. I realized last night that I needed to stop making excusing and just do it. Please don't think that I think that you are making excusing. I am just saying that is what I am doing. I don't believe however that you lack willpower instead I think that there is something that you are doing or not doing that is effecting how you approach your way of eating. Make time to sit down and really look at what you have been doing lately and if it is a matter of starting from scratch to bring in the good things that you were doing that have slipped away then make a plan to add them back in or if it is something that is not appropriate for your way of eating then slowly delete it. I've not looked at your food journal but I know with me if I do not eat my calories in a balanced manner throughout the day I will overeat at night. You've done real well these past couple of months and because of that I am confident that you can get back on track. Good Luck!

Many times it's a habit. Habits can be changed. You are aware of what you are doing so that's a good thing. Now you just have to make changes to stop you from doing it. You might need to find something to do during that time or plan out snacks to eat. Make sure you get plenty of protein and high fiber foods during the day. They will keep you more full, so you won't be as tempted in the evening. But make a plan that will help you. It takes time to change and it's not easy. Good luck!

I used to have a problem with eating late in the evening. I compensated by having only a cup of hot chocolate (made with nonfat milk) when I couldn't resist. Mostly I just kept resisting and now I don't feel as much of an urge.

well yeah that was the thing.. It was a real huge problem in the start.. then I fought off the urges and then there was no urges for a long time.. and ever since I fell hard off the wagon in september.. I have to relearn and retrain my bellieh. :P I think I am just going to have to muscle through it.. maybe just go to bed early a few nights... and get back out of the habit.

I know how you’re feeling girl. I've had a weekend of bingey not good eating as well. My little tricks for curbing that late afternoon/late night craving wasn't working. I'm back on track since yesterday but some of my tricks are drinking some hot tea at night instead of a snack first, often enough that helps me. If your have some low fat snacks those would be a good choice or if all that fails try your treat but eat it slowly and drink water to try and fill yourself up faster so that you don't eat more then you should. Everyone slips up from time to time as long as you get back in the groove of things is the important thing.

I used to have that happen to me too, I found if I had a cup of milk I would be ok until morning and now I can go with out anything as long as I have a good portion of protein at supper time. I am sure this will pass just keep your head up!

Ceebee, what foods are you craving at night? I used to go wild starting about 3pm and it would continue on into the evening. I got rid of the really dangerous stuff like cookies and crackers, and put some safe snacks out instead. Mostly fruit, nuts, and low-cal snack bars. Drinking a hot cup of tea helps to take the edge off too. Going to bed early isn't a bad idea either.

Ceebee, my main problem is my night eating also. Have you ever tried brushing your teeth early in the night when you have these cravings. Sometimes for some reason this helps me. I read this tip somewhere. I'm not telling you I never fall off the wagon but many times this helps.
