So Lady Luck was shining on me a little yesterday (I hope this turns out to be a lucky thing anyway!). I was only unemployed for 11 hours! I had put my two-week notice in the GM's box at around midnight, and by 11 am had a new job!
The minute I had heard about the takeover and staff cutbacks Sunday afternoon I started calling around to the other hotels in town, and low and behold one was looking for auditors! I gave them a call Monday morning and she asked if I could come in right away for an interview. It seemed to go really well and I was quite hopeful. I got home around 10:25am, laid down to go to sleep, and just as I was drifting off at 11 the phone rang offering me the job! I work at this hotel the night of the 14 and then start at that one the night of the 15th! Plus I get the days of that I requested with no problem (I have no problems working weekends since Steve has to be at his restaurant, so getting Wed. and Thurs. off is generally pretty easy).
It is a bit of a pay cut (not too much) but it's a brand new hotel so everyone there is new, and I'm making more than anyone there except management because of my experience, so I'm pleased!
