I'm considering switching over to Keto but don't know much about it. Can anyone recommend a good book for a beginner. I would like to read up on it before I make my decision. I'm a sweets and carb lover, so I'm not sure if keto will be a good fit for me.

I've been watching what I eat and my calorie intake, plus trying to reduce my carbs. I've been losing weight but wonder if Keto would be better. I'll appreciate any information you supply.

Have a blessed day!

A lot of the good information are on websites, YouTubes and blogs. The Diet Doctor is a good website to start with (but only do the free stuff). Dr. Berry and Dr. Berg have good youtube sessions on keto. As for book, there are very many out there, I would recommend Jimmy Moore's Keto Clarity (which started this whole craze) and Jason Fung's The Obesity Code. Jason Fung's book is on Fasting but explains well why controlling your insulin is a key to losing weight for many. Yes, do your research and if you feel like it give it a try. It is just food and you can easily switch back to counting calories if it is not for you. I just love it. I have been on keto for 6 months.

@ Liv - why did I have the impression you'd been keto for years? @ Jean - Liv has been a great source of information and support for me so I nod to everything she offered. From myself I will offer this - just before jumping off into LCHF/Keto I had commented to my doctor 'I CRAAAAVE Bread' thinking this would not work for me (she didn't suggest it, a friend I knew was following it moderately and the idea of giving up bread, crackers, etc., made me think I'd hate it.) The first couple of weeks was a bit of white knuckles but after that, I didn't miss it. For me it hasn't been the 'woosh!' of fast weight loss but it has been consistent so far and I've not felt deprived or hungry.

Thanks @Liv for the resources and @Bella for the information on the carb cravings. It's been pretty easy cutting the sweets out of my diet. I say that now with Easter around the corner. 😃 I've been trying to cut the carbs back but when I look at my food diary, I'm amazed at how many I actually had. I guess I really need to pay close attention to labels and research food better. This has all been a great big learning experience for me.

Keto, Low Carb, Atiins l, and Intermittent Fasting all have a common thread. You're trying to control insulin levels. I read a really good article recently that explained in plain English the reason controlling insulin levels helps. https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.kettleandfire.com/how-to-reverse-insulin-resistance/amp/
