So, I took my daughter to the pool today. We live in a new neighborhood this summer and our old one didn't have a pool, so this was my first experience with that. I don't have a bathing suit so I wore a skirt and a shirt, not planning to go in the pool. I didn't go in the pool. My daughter played with her friend's mom. I felt out of place. I felt fat. I was the fattest person there. I decided that this summer is the last summer I will feel too fat to play in the pool with my child. I'm buying a bathing suit soon so I can be the one with her next time, but I know I'll feel uncomfortable.

Next summer, it won't even occur to me to see if I'm the fattest person there. I won't wonder, because I will know I am not.

I feel defeated, but determined.
