Things have been going well, but I am in week three and I am very tired and I feel "dumb" in class. I wonder if anyone has had this problem after the first two weeks, and when it might get better. Any feedback would be great. Thanks :)

I've never heard of feeling "dumb", but exhaustion and flu like symptons are common. Drink your water, make sure you are getting enough calories, drink broth (to make up for the loss of sodium from water weight loss) and get your sleep! Sorry you're have a rough time. If you can get through this, you can continue to succeed!! Good luck.

I tend to get that "dumb" feeling when I don't eat enough carbs. You might try to stay as close to 20g carbs a day, as I see from your Diet Calendar that there are many days you have been way under that. Also, you might try eating the bulk of your carb allotment early in the day, like at breakfast. It looks like your caloric, fat and protein intake are good, though.

Sounds like you've got the Atkins flu. The recommendation is to add some sodium (p. 96, The New Atkins for a New You). While too much salt is not a good thing, "adapting to the low-carb state fundamentally changes how your system handles nutrients that might (otherwise) cause problems in a high-carb setting." Once you're fully adapted to burning fat for fuel or are above 50 g. net carbs, you probably won't need it. In the meantime, you can add 2 cups of full-salt broth, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, or 2 tablespoons of regular soy sauce to your daily meal plan and that should help. Even now, after 2 years low-carbing, I'll still add the broth if I've been working out heavily or it's really hot outside.
