This is my Iron Anniversary.

A year since I took control of my diet. A year since I started putting my body to the test. What a difference it’s made.

...Okay, so maybe it was more like a year and a week, but that’s 372 days of determination, sweat, and challenging myself. I’ve lost over 40 pounds and over ten percent body fat.

Stagnation is Death. My motto. But it wasn’t until this last year that I felt like I was living up to it. Becoming what I was meant to be. Better late than never.

I debated whether I wanted to post a picture on here, but I decided it was finally time. Yeah, I’m totally posting this to show off, and I think I’ve earned the right to after spending my whole life as the fat guy. That pic on the left actually isn't the biggest I've been, I used to be even fatter than that—however, that's the pic closest to when I began lifting.

I also hope that one or two people will take some inspiration away. You don’t have to accept things as they are. You can reject weakness without rejecting yourself. If you don’t like how you’re defined, rewrite the dictionary. Just remember that it’s a long-term journey with no destination. What separates those who succeed is commitment, consistency, and being open to learning.

I didn’t get here alone, though. My trainer will make it sound like I did all the work, but he’s also gone above and beyond anything I expected of him and I don’t think I would have had the same results with another trainer. My gym has given me an incredibly supportive environment and the positive energy is palpable there.

This app has also made a big difference and has been what I consider an essential tool in my journey.

We'll see what next year's side-by-side looks like!
