After watching 'The Diets that Time Forgot' I might start counting how many times I chew my food.

It's actually really interesting viewing. One of the diets from the Edwardian period involves chewing everything 32 times, although you can eat what you like. They've just had a weigh in and after four days of that, one man had lost TEN POUNDS!

The two women on the diet with him had lost 4lb and 1lb so it may not work very well, but I wonder what combining the chewing with a low calorie diet would result in.

one lb in four days is still a healthy rate of weight loss! I'm intrigued.

He started off at 21 stone so obviously he had a lot to lose, but if it could work that well for him then there Must be something to it. Clearly though, on the show his food was controlled to the extent that his only contact with it was when he ate it and that went for all of them. If anyone's interested then the other diets used were a primitive form of Atkins (but with Very restricted meat portions of 4-6oz per meal) , and a 1920s calorie controlled diet. It's on Channel 4 so anyone in the UK who's intrigued can catch up with 4OD.
