Had a long walk along the beach yesterday followed by a swim and realised how much I'd been missing both. In Tunisia it was hard to walk far because of the heat and the week before I went there my mum was here so long walks were out of the question. Yesterday I walked 6 or 7 km and then swam for 20 minutes, it was lovely. We're into our last month of swimming weather so I really need to make the most of every opportunity.

As to food, I'm not really sure what it is that I'm doing right, but I'm still losing. :) I don't usually record EVERYTHING that I eat any more and I often have some ice cream or a little chocolate in the evening that goes unrecorded. Most days I would guess I'm consuming around or over my RDI for weight loss - maybe it's time that was re-calculated for maintenance? I'm really happy to be under my original target weight as that was a conservative goal anyway. Also we're still at the summer house with my old and slightly inaccurate analogue scales, so I guess I'm up to 2 kilos heavier than they show. Nonetheless, that still means a loss of about 2 kilos since the start of the summer.

I feel great and I look pretty good, too! It's clear that most of the weight has gone from my thighs, bum and upper arms - obviously that's where the fat was being carried. My legs haven't looked this slim and toned for more than 20 years and pants fit beautifully without the thunder thighs and lumpy leg syndrome! I've never considered cosmetic surgery as I strongly believe in ageing gracefully and looking natural. However, I do have a lot of very dark purple thread veins on my legs and I'm now seriously wondering whether to invest in some treatment to lessen their appearance - anyone on FS know anything about this?

We have two more days holiday here and I'm back to work and off to Istanbul on Wednesday for 3 days of training and meetings so that will be 3 days of unpredictable food - the only thing I can predict is that they won't provide my usual diet! However there is a lovely park with a running track near where we stay so exercise shouldn't be a problem, there'll be time and opportunity.

Today I'm looking forward to another quiet day, some studying, maybe some shopping (there are sales on) and another long walk and swim. My family and other relatives will all be back here this evening so I'll make tihe most of the quiet time alone :)

EDIT - I've just re-calculated my RDi for maintenance which has given me an increase of 400 cal a day so that's why I'm still losing - I haven't been eating that much even when going 'over' :)

Good you did the recalculation! You might have just wasted away! ;) And isn't it lovely to feel so much better about how you look! Until I started this weight loss journey, I had never been as heavy as I was (not counting pregnancies, of course). I have mostly felt "fat" throughout my adult life. Now that my weight is more suitable, I can appreciate the difference...I'm not as toned up as I'd like to be, still working on that, but overall, I'm quite pleased with my "mirror image", lol...it IS nice to feel you look good in your clothes! As for the spider veins, I feel your pain, girl. My job has always required long hours of being on my feet, and I'm quite certain that has contributed. I'm just grateful not to have varicose veins, as those can be painful. I have a theory about why we begin to lose our eyesight as we age...it's so we won't notice things like spider veins or those annoying chin hairs! Lol...too bad for corrective eyewear, eh? But seriously? I think having a little tan on your legs will disguise much of the problem, and I'm not sure how successful any type of treatment is, especially long-term...couldn't hurt to check it out , though.
