I control this moment with the choices I make, and it's not just about food choices, healthy or otherwise. I choose to bring happiness to others around me. As one of my buddies mentioned in a recent post, she will stay positive. I can do that! Another of my buddies is focusing on gratitude. I choose to be grateful.

Now, that's a start.

However, does this mean I shouldn't mourn the six brand-new 2XL tank tops I've never worn and need to clean out of my closet? How about the four pairs of brand-new jeans? They still have tags on them. (Not to mention three silk blouses I've barely worn.)

Today I'll start discarding the double digit/letter clothing, especially those prefaced with an X before the size. (I'm not quite sure how to do that earnestly, though.)

As a tangent to that, I'll clean out my lingerie drawer. Now, that's a no-brainer, a wise decision... if your underwear doesn't stay up anymore, out they go.

There, happiness, positivity, and gratitude. That's my list for today. Albeit a modest list, it's indeed a beginning. After all, Buddha had more practice, and maybe it takes time to develop a longer list. But then, again, did he ever have to clean out his closet... or even compile a list?

Thank you for the quote. Hopefully, all of us can find something to be positive about today. And for those negative thinkers... how about...the scale may not have moved as much as I wanted in the right direction, but are you noticing a difference in your clothes, do you feel better about yourself, have other people been noticing your progress? We tend to be very hard on ourselves sometimes. We are all human and have slip ups, but the key is moving forward in the right direction and finding the little things to be happy about!

Love that point of view. It is genuinely one of acceptance, and embracing the place where you are now. Enjoy the purge of clothing, and welcome the new you!

My mom used to make us do a "try-on party" before every school year, and before shopping for new clothes. I know it is about time for me to do another try-on party myself, now 25 lbs down without a stitch thrown out, as fall is right around the corner and I can't wait to see which cute jackets fit. Have you noticed you feel like there are more clothes options after you clean out your closet? That is how it feels for me. Maybe I will approach it like you: one drawer or clothing type at a time? Perhaps it is time to slim down my t-shirt supply (and get rid of the holey ones). Then: jeans and pants. Everything is different in that department! Also, don't feel too bad about having to shop for new stuff... One or two great new pieces can recharge several looks! I shopped for earrings recently because they are the only things guaranteed to keep fitting! Finally, Dress for Success always needs quality plus size clothes for low-income women seeking career opportunities. I donated a lot of old suits to them and intend for more stuff to go there as I keep losing. I don't count that as a loss... Good for women in need and a tax deduction to boot!

I have many Buddha statues in my home - and work daily on acceptance and mindfulness. It is a wonderful way to live. CONGRATS being so damned close to your goal weight! Love it! You also could bring clothes with tags and baredly worn clothes to s consignment shop and get a few bucks back to spend on SMALLER clothes! WOOT! ANd, Heidi Joy;s donation idea also is a good one.
