I just listened to Inside Out Weight Loss podcast and she talked about Success Journals and what an impact that can have on your life. I am going to start doing that in these journals.

I feel very successful in dealing with my food today. My b/f is a total foodie - he's an incredible cook and loves fine dining as well. We went out for Valentines on Tuesday to one of the best restaurants in SF and THEN he decides to cook an incredible Valentines Day dinner tonight (he surprised me). I love him dearly and I love his food, but boy, does he make it challenging to eat lightly!!! I feel like I did rather well - went over the 1200 calorie limit, but not by much. And you shoulda seen this meal! incredible lobster, prawns, saffron risotto, asparagus baked in olive oil, fabulous ice cream.

My other success is actually signing up to sponsor a woman in the Congo. I've been wanting to do something - those women are so brutally raped and tortured and then abandoned by their families. I keep seeing reports about the Congo, Darfur, Afghanistan - I can't imagine how horrible it must be. A woman there could start and maintain a business that sustains her and probably many people with the money that I spend at Starbucks every months. Its time for me to start giving!! Anyway, I signed up at http://www.womenforwomen.org/. I figured if ex Prez Clinton endorsed it, it must be a good thing.

Anyway, I feel this is part of my healing my issues around food - get out of my own drama and have compassion for others where its really needed in the world.

I like that you're helping yourself while helping others. It moves the focus on food to focus on those who need it. The meal your bf made sounds excellent! Do you remember Renee mentioning the book "Why French Women Don't Get Fat"? It's more of a fun and easy read. The title is a bit obnoxious but it does have some good tips to prepare yourself for incredibly rich meals which is mainly self-correcting. What I liked about the book is that is emphasizes the pleasure in eating good food and making every meal an event.

I am still getting caught up from the first IOWL podcast and haven't listened to that one yet but the success journal is a phenomenal idea and I am going to give it a try. It is similar to the concept of a gratitude journal but with goal association...i like it. I am happy to hear that you have sponsored a woman in the Congo...the atrocities there and many other developing nations is terrible and anything anyone can do to help is great. Keep up the good work.
