The International Orchid Fair in Santa Barbara on Sunday was a perfect day (topped off with a visit to Santa Barbara Orchid Estates & Cal Orchid nurseries). Meandering through the aisles of vendors, it was being in eye candy heaven. The perfume of exotic scents was exquisite.
In contrast to my last visit, I can see how far I've come. Last year I struggled to wander through all the displays. To my chagrin, my hubby used to drop me off in front of the venue!
Wednesday night was the wedding tasting party. Not only did we have nine entrees, three desserts, three salads, dozens of appetizers and hors d'oeuvres, there were over a dozen wines to taste! Portion control wasn't the issue; it was the number of "small" portions that quickly added up. Oh, okay, so I had to have a second "taste" of the lobster and an extra nibble of the crab cake.
Last week was a vacation both mentally and physically. It's always good for your spirit to get away from work for a bit, isn't it?
Best of all.... we found a vendor at the orchid fair who will give us a discount for orchid plants to use as centerpieces at my daughter's wedding! Now, where can I find doves or butterflies?
